Summary: Had to replace a high end Sony receiver as part of a HDMI technology upgrade of the media room. Didn't want to spent $900 and managed to find this device. The HD up scale is pretty decent. The HDMI switching is ok - it doesn't seem to like it when by blue ray switches between different video streams, e.g. from the Homeland Security warning to the first preview this device will stop sending video to my projector and cause it to show the default blue screen.
Summary: Please take this review with a grain of salt. I suspect this is an excellent receiver but does not sound nearly as good as the 7 year old Yamaha that it has temporarily replaced. There is a 97 page manual on how to operate the unit and I suspect I have things configured improperly. I run a Bose 6 speaker audio system and cannot get the rear channel surround to work. Maybe its just me but have tried every configuration I can extract from the manual.
Summary: Our 20 year old receiver needed updating...and voila, after reading multiple reviews I decided on this one. After ordering it, the seller sent me an email that the 1912 wasn't available...so they upgraded it to the 1913 without an extra charge! the setup was super easy. Every time we get a new component it takes us a while to get everything connected, but this one was very easy. Do buy the banana plugs and several hdmi cables, you'll need them.
Summary: I purchased this Denon AVR-1912 about 18 months ago. I've had Sony and Pioneer receivers in the past but I wanted something more. I wanted a Denon because I felt by spending a bit more money, I'd be stepping up to the quality brand name Denon. The AVR-1912 is a very sharp looking receiver. The set up wizard is a cool feature which allows you to set up your receiver easily and efficiently.
Summary: I had been looking for some time to find a unit to replace my old Pioneer Receiver and after reading reviews on Amazon and CNET I decided that the Denon AVR-1912 was the right choice with the best feature sets. I have it setup on 5.1 Dolby Surround and with a sub-woofer and the sound couldn't be better. The Audyssey speaker setup was a breeze, I had the whole speaker system up and running in 20 minutes which compared to my old system was a dream.
