Worked great, until it decided to stop working.

bcoz84, Amazon
16 August 2013
  • Summary: it worked great for the first year or so, then the HDMI inputs decided to stop transmitting sound, I was able to fix it by completely rebooting the system like 4 times but it still does this regularly, I have searched forums and even contacted Denon about this problem and they keep telling me it doesn't happen (but it does, Don't tell me what things do or don't do if you aren't looking at it). the customer support people over there are SHIT.

Disappointed

kerberos, Amazon
5 September 2012
  • Summary: Worked well for 13 months, but then I lost a middle channel. Kids didn't notice when I disconnected the middle channel lead, so all was well. Then, 3 months later I lost the right rear channel. Will never purchase Denon again.

My Denon 1909 died w/in 2 years

undrdog "undrdog", Amazon
4 December 2011
  • Summary: My Denon 1909 died within two years of purchase. They repaired it under warranty, but now, less than a year after the repair, it died again this weekend. For the kind of money they charge for their products, I sure would expect a longer life span than 2 - 3 years. Also, when it was working, it would lose its internal settings from time to time, so I'd have to go back through the menus and re-select the correct inputs. I sure won't buy another Denon.

Crap. Would not buy again

F. Ferreres, Amazon
22 May 2011
  • Summary: In spite of the good reviews, I've found this equipment to be utterly dissapointing. Here's why this is a crappy product you should avoid: 1) Had to factory reset the unit several times. Would stop detecting DTS or PL-II or anything beyond PCM. 2) Whenever I turn the projector off first, of if the computer goes to sleep, audio will not be heard through computer HDMI, even though it's sending the signal and displays the VU signals.

Don't buy if you want to use with your iPhone

Scott F., Amazon
3 August 2010
  • Summary: The 791 does not work with the iPhone as advertised. I contacted Denon and all they would say is that the problem is either with my phone or with the cable. They are refusing to admit that there is a problem and based on the customer service for this product, I would stay away. Even when I tell them it did not work when I changed the cable or connected our other iPhone they stick to the same response - and tell me to test it with an iPod.

False Claims About On-Screen Display; Does Not Work With Iphone

Charles Haywood, Amazon
17 July 2010
  • Summary: I've had a Denon receiver for ten years (an AVR-2800). I switched to this because I needed one that with HDMI input/output. I'm used to the opaque Denon manuals and non-intuitive interface. However, the AVR-1911 has two debilitating problems. 1) It supposedly has on-screen display. However, this is basically a lie. The unit is clearly focused on HDMI, but if you use HDMI, you effectively cannot use the on-screen display.
