Great AVR, or great bs?

iogan "vadimz5", Amazon
25 October 2014
  • Summary: Great AVR, or great bs? This was a replacement for my kenwood that worked for me for over 15 years (still probably works for somebody else - I gave it away to upgrade to latest technology). It worked just a little over 3 years. Then one surround channel lost its voice, got sort of bad cold case. Then I found that 1080p video signal through any hdmi input has problems.

High Quality at a Great Price

  • Summary: I bought this used and have had it for about two months now. I have to say I really love this receiver. Easy to set up, lots of features, a great sound, and a great video chip. My TiVo Series 3 only has Composite output (the HDMI is notorious for going out on those) so I have the TiVo running through the Denon's Component In, with a TosLink Optical input for sound. I also have an Insignia BD connected via HDMI. The Denon converts both of these into one HDMI ouput.

Worked great, until it decided to stop working.

  • Summary: it worked great for the first year or so, then the HDMI inputs decided to stop transmitting sound, I was able to fix it by completely rebooting the system like 4 times but it still does this regularly, I have searched forums and even contacted Denon about this problem and they keep telling me it doesn't happen (but it does, Don't tell me what things do or don't do if you aren't looking at it). the customer support people over there are SHIT.

  • Summary: Worked well for 13 months, but then I lost a middle channel. Kids didn't notice when I disconnected the middle channel lead, so all was well. Then, 3 months later I lost the right rear channel. Will never purchase Denon again.

Awesome Receiver!

  • Summary: I bought 2 of these receivers ~1 year ago, and both have an Xbox 360, PS3 & PC connected to them via HDMI, and both are using 5.1 surround speakers. ...I have no complaints about their form or function, and both have been functioning excellently, and there's really nothing bad to say about the 1911 receiver! I have to give it a 5/5 just because it totally delivers on what it says it does.

Denon AVR1911 Review - stopped working after a year

E. Hu, Amazon
22 May 2012
  • Summary: I bought the Denon AVR1911 at the end of 2010, it worked great right out of the box. For over a year I had no issues, then all of a sudden today, it stopped working. It won't even turn on. This is the second newer Denon that has just died unexpectedly. I will be contacting them about warranty. Will update when I hear back from them.

Why buy this years receiver if you only need last years features?

grapetaco, Ebay
25 April 2012
  • Summary: I love this receiver! I bought it used on eBay after my refurbished Pioneer died three days after I received it. I don't know how much it was used before since it was purchased used, but it works wonderfully. It has a handy usb port on the front so you can hook an iPod straight to it and control it with the remote or buttons on the receiver and you don't need to buy an expensive dock like you do for many other receivers.

My Denon 1909 died w/in 2 years

undrdog "undrdog", Amazon
4 December 2011
  • Summary: My Denon 1909 died within two years of purchase. They repaired it under warranty, but now, less than a year after the repair, it died again this weekend. For the kind of money they charge for their products, I sure would expect a longer life span than 2 - 3 years. Also, when it was working, it would lose its internal settings from time to time, so I'd have to go back through the menus and re-select the correct inputs. I sure won't buy another Denon.
