Summary: This receiver is awesome! Everything I expected and more. The sound and build quality is excellent. I bought an older Denon model for three reasons; my limited budget, Denon's quality and reputation, and because so many reviews for newer models complained of software problems for features I will never use. Sure, it's lacking some nifty features of the newest models, but most of them are just 'creeping featurism' making them much more complicated and unreliable.
Summary: I have been an audiophile since 3 years and got this particular receiver in an estate sale for hadly any money and i am shell shocked at its performance music is really warm and i dint know if it was going to last long but frankly i am powering the BW 603 s4 and AR SUB and its doing a phenomenal job. So far its been 2 years and no complains just compliments way to go.
Summary: This is (was?) a great value at the time. Especially in terms of performance and features for the money. DTS, Dolby Digital, two HDMI ports, and so on. Unfortunately, these suffer from a common problem with so many AV receivers and electronics these days. Built with cheap parts, especially the capacitors, our receiver is failing at barely into its fourth year. Hardly acceptable in my book. A quick web search will show a large number of folks with complaints.

Summary: I've had this unit for 3 years now. I'm posting the review in the hopes of helping anyone having the same problem I've had (and solved- thanks to Denon's responsive support forums!!). First, the unit has been reliable and great for me. I've got a very asymmetric room with 7.1 speakers set up, and the Denon system using the microphone worked out an excellent balance for my off-center seating situation.
Summary: After dealing with the occasional loud popping, screeching, and other odd behavior for a couple of years, we've finally chucked this thing. Moved on to a Marantz. I'm no expert, but I had a lot of them over to my house to examine the problem and no one had any solutions... Sure they suggested lots of things. I bought a fancy power conditioner, I replaced the speakers, and I built a rack so there would be an insane amount of air-flow for the component. Nothing helped.
Summary: I am not new to Home Theater but I am new to owning a Denon receiver. I own a Sony 777ES and this AVR 1908 beats up the Sony in every way. Kinda strange that this entry level Denon can achieve this but it is true. I have owned this 1908 for a year and half. Just last week I realized how great movies sound. The reason being is I decided to experiment with the 7.1 feature.
Summary: i have this baby connected to my tv 42in LG to my ps3 to my comp to my wii to my cable box to my ipod i have klipsch speakers n klipsch subwoofer and these babys hit hard super bass time i think a have a few more input conentions but i dont have anything to pluggin as for the bad reviews don't buy use just buy it new its worth what ever the price it is and i got mine expensive and it still working :)
Summary: Love this reciever, when I ordered it they actually sent the 1909 which is the 09 model. Works great with PS3 and Samsung 52" A850 perfectly. Only complaint is the controller buttons on both sides, it this does not matter as most people get a universal controller anyway. Awesome!!!
