Summary: This was a perfect unit. I didn't mind the price for a quality item, but then the power went out during an update. The update was frozen for about 40 minutes... the power went out. Now it is stuck and I can't get the update to finish. The unit will no longer stream with airplay. Customer service has been useless and hasn't responded to my email. If you buy a Denon definitely do not complete the firmware updates over an internet connection (it will ruin the motherboard).
Summary: Quality and customer service are awful Got a problem with your Denon unit while still under warranty? Good luck getting it fixed. After 2 weeks of ownership, I reported an intermittent problem with the power switch. No resolution, no follow-up. 5 months later I'm still having the same problem. I call back. Denon tells me to take it to the nearest Authorized Repair Center, which is 60 miles away.
Summary: This is the second Denon receiver that I have bought. Denon is junk. The first one(a differnt model) lasted 12 months, this one(AVR-1713) lasted only 6 months. Also, they are not user friendly at all. Go with another brand.
