Summary: The sound on the receiver is excellent, there are lots of great features, the price is reasonable, and set-up is a breeze! That being said, the quality is severely lacking. I purchased my first one about 2 years ago and it lasted about 2 months. I was listening to music through it and I could smell plastic melting. The receiver was so hot to the touch that I almost burned my hand touching it. After this it would not power up.
Summary: I tested this unit almost 12-months now, it get the best out of all your devices as stated on the item info. This unit delivered excellent audio & video. regrets, the seller lost the Audyssey MultiEQ Support to adjust speakers. Works perfect ...
Summary: I bought this receiver thinking it was superbly priced 7.1 model as the technical details section on this page describes it many times to be. It is not so. The AVR-1712 and 1713 are 5.1 systems. You should also just buy the cheaper priced, and newer model AVR-1713 (http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR-1713-Networking-Receiver-Outputs/dp/B007R8U5W6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1370905364&sr=8-2&keywords=denon+1712) instead of the receiver on this page.
Summary: It's got the electronics I needed. It has been set up for me by my communications specialist so that I push one button for TV and another for the Sony blu ray player (I aslo purchased from Amazon) and it's hooked up to my surround sound. Doesn't get easier than that. Also, it was Andrew's Electronic that sent me the refurbished Denon. Couldn't be happier. Still working perfectly! The Andrew's people rock, as well as Amazon.
Summary: Getting it set up properly can take some time but it sounds great. It has the power needed to fill most rooms but there are a few things that I didn't read in reviews that I read about it. The sound often cuts out for a second typically when adjusting the volume. The other negative is that the 2 zone capacity is not for digital sources. Almost every source now a days is digital which makes the Zone 2 pretty much worthless. Still a great product!
