Summary: one of the best sounding receivers i have ever had the chance of buying. my home theater is the best i think some one is knocking at the door when its just the movie my wife and kids are watching in the living room lol. i love it so much its the best 299.99 i have ever spent.
Summary: I bought a AVR-1611 a year ago and use it with Energy Take Five Classic speakers, a Samsung 3D BluRay player and a very good Panasonic 42" 1080P Plasma TV. What an awesome system. My wife and I go upstairs once a week for our in-house "night at the movies" to watch and listen to this system - we can actually hear the cars coming thru the walls and the gun casings rolling across the floors)!
Summary: There is definitely a learning curve to this piece of equipment and a big step up from my basic RCA unit I had used for so long. Plenty (4) of HDMI inputs. The Audyssey set up was a nice feature and, despite my best efforts to make setup difficult, got things up and going. Great price for a unit with all the features this one has.
Summary: As a nontechnical person set up was fairly difficult, but the technicians worked with me on the phone to solve all of the problems. The receiver has a full rich sound compared to my 15 year old NAD (thin, lacked punch). i paid $268 shipped as a discontinued model. This was well worth it. I understand the 1612, the successor to the 1611, comes with an ipad dock. If I had known this beforehand, I may have opted for the 1512. With the 1611, the optional dock is about $100.
Summary: This receiver is quite impressive for the modest price, especially if you can find it refurbished. I have owned this for around a year and, until recently, I never really dug too deep into it. I finally just set up the remote to control my other misc electronics such as: blu ray player, TV, etc.; i do wish we had the ability to use the remote with and Xbox360, though. The remote setup was a breeze when utilizing the on-screen display.
Summary: Great Unit. Was getting this real cheap but upgraded to Denon AVR1712 because they were out of them and I am glad I did. It has all you need for a small to medium Home Theater. No problems at all. Wonderful sound. Crappy Remote. They try to hard to have all the actions on a single button to save searching. Didn't work. Awesome Unit for the money, Buy it.....
Summary: "Great Value" sounds kind of lame as it tends to imply that you are getting a lesser quality item real cheap. This is a high-quality item at a great price--literally craigslist pricing. No, it doesn't have 48 thousand inputs and outputs, only four, which is all I need for DTV, DVD, Apple TV and one other for whatever in the future. This unit replaced a seven year old Onkyo. The sound quality is fantastic--warm yet powerful as opposed to the Onkyo's harshness.
Summary: This is a great receiver, inexpensive, easy to use and best of all very easy to set up and coodinate with an existing surround sound system. The Audessy system for speaker setup produces a stellar sound with no effort at all. The manual is complicated enough for all the guys who insist on fiddling with every detail for hours on end. I am a 65 year old grandmother so am delighted that I could set it up by myself without spending days doing it! Love it!
