Summary: I have had this receiver for about 2 years. I only had it on when I was watching a blu ray movie or certain shows. I did not leave it on all the time. I enjoyed the microphone speaker calibration and features that it offers for the price. I sometimes found the bass to be a bit loud at lower volumes with the audacity settings which compensate for sound at lower volumes. It also could have a lot more power.
Summary: Be sure to expect a healthy discount. This is NOT a current model at all. You may be able to get a significantly better receiver at a better price with a current model. Check the Denon web page for current models. Buyer Beware !!!
Summary: I live in Brazil and bought by Amazon when I opened the lid was dented but it worked well after 5 days he burned and I can not contact anyone via e-mail with the Amazon and I'm lost without knowing what to do ...
Summary: I purchased the AVR-1611 along with the Samsung 59" Plasma D7000 and the Samsung D6500 Blu Ray player. The receiver does not reliably pass through the Blu-ray signal to the TV yet the player works great when connected straight to the TV. Cable Set-top box works but not the Blu-ray player. I updated the BluRay player firmware and then actually got it to work for awhile, though the playback was choppy (on Netflix).
Summary: This was a gift I gave to my son and it had problems from day one. It had to be returned for a refund. I had always had great opinions for this brand. I guess it is like many others just not as good as they use to be.
Summary: I bought this unit in Best Buy for $399. Within two weeks, one of the HDMI channel failed. I have Comcast HD TV box connected to the receiver through HDMI cable. When the HDMI of the receiver failed, I lost audio signal, only have video. When I connect the HD TV cable box to a different HDMI channel on the receiver, both audio and video worked fine. This Denon receiver definitly has a design issue with the HDMI channel.
