Summary: When I purchased this receiver, I was BRAND NEW to the receiver world. I had some HTIAB (home theater in a box) setups in the past but I was ready to go to the next step. WOW, I am glad I went with the Denon AVR1610!!!!!!!! The sound quality is excellent, setup was a BREEZE, and setup couldn't have been easier!! Just plug and play! The automatic speaker calibration takes care of EVERYTHING for you!!!! Just an amazing receiver for the price.
Summary: I just upgraded from a 2005-vintage, entry-level Yamaha 5.1 receiver that served my purposes very well. The only concern I had about getting this was the lack of a 6-channel discrete input for my SACD player. Since I also have a PS3 that can play back SACDs though, I bit the bullet and bought it. This Denon is perfect! With the latest HDMI interface, I now have one cable running from the PS3 into the receiver that passes audio and video.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy Setup, Great Sound Quality
Summary: I recent bought this receiver with the Klipsch HD500 speaker set. The combo deal was great. I like all the features and the auto setup with the included mic was a breeze. I'm not an audiophile so take my review with a grain of salt. It sounds a ton better than my old system. It would have gotten 5 stars except the remote quit working a month into owning it. It is extremely annoying not having a remote. But at least it is pushing me to finally pick up a harmony remote.
Summary: I wanted to setup a home theater system and tried with a Philips HTIB system first (which imo is a waste of money--it went bad within a few months.)Went online and did a little research- checked out Yamaha & Denon receivers. The Denon AVR-1610 receiver caught my attention. Went to Denon website and read about this receiver, looked at the rear connections of this receiver and found what I was looking for: multiple speaker setup, HDMI pass thru, A/B and A+B switching, ipod...
Pros: Easy Setup, Good Power Output, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality
Summary: I loved the fact that it can check the room and placement of the speakers. We replaced an old receiver in an RV and the old speaker wires weren't marked properly. After the test we knew we had hooked up the speakers in the wrong placement and could easily change to make it right. Be sure to hook the HDMI straight to the TV to view the screens while setting up.
Pros: Accurate Controls, Easy Setup, Good Remote Control, Great Sound Quality, Works with old componen
Summary: don't even think about reading and using the manual that comes with the receiver from denon. look up "badpigs" translation on the avs forum and save yourself some headaches. the receiver works as it should. still tweeking the settings. the audyssey setup works very well and is a good starting point for the settings. I am only using 3.1 as I have not yet hooked up the rear suround sound speakers but it sounds great.
Summary: This is a well positioned device with many desirable features one might expect for an upper-end receiver. As such, it is a great value. Set up requires patience and the willingness to read the instructions before you begin. This receiver is complex enough not to be intuitive because it has features that are new enough not to be familiar.
Very good product, but not intuitive menus/documentation

Summary: I've got this receiver set up between a Mac Mini and a Samsung 52" LCD TV. The quality of the image and sound is excellent and I'm very happy with the end product. My only criticism is the relatively poor documentation that ships with the product. Getting the settings right was mostly trial and error and a lot of switching between menus looking for the right configuration.
Summary: Based on a sub-$400 budget, I focused on this and the Yamaha 465. In researching it, a toss-up really emerged and the decision was made in talking to a very knowledgeable guy at Crutchfield. Having set it up last night and having played with it the better part of today, I am very content with my purchase. I fired up some Blu Ray's with both PCM and DTS-MA/ True HD and was very pleased with the upgrade over standard DD/DTS. The soundstage was just bigger.
