Summary: I am very disappointed with the Denon AVR-1609. First disappointment, no sound with HDMI. 2nd disappointment, Dynamic Volume Control doesn't reduce volume spikes when commercials come on as stated.
Summary: This is the most user unfriendly device ever manufactured. It takes forever for it to do anything if you can figure out how to get it to operate at all. I wanted to SLEDGE mine but decided to give it to someone else to test their frustration level F---
Summary: I purchased this receiver refurbished, otherwise I would have gotten a higher model number that converted all the video sources to the HDMI signal. When I hook up a DVD player or laptop to the unit, I also have to connect a separate audio cable.
Summary: I had an Onkyo before this that eventually went into satefy mode...so I decided to upgrade. I have a 52" samsung along with a Polk Surroundbar 50, so was looking for something that would easily handle that (Prologic II) and my 10" polk sub.
Summary: The denon AVR-1609 is a great A/V reciever. Some people do not like the fact that the audio HDMI portion is just a pass-thru but I like it because I only use fiber optic for my audio(the 1609 has 2).
Summary: After purchasing this item, I read the reviews. I can tell you that after reading them I tried to cancel this item through Amazon on-line before it shipped. I was truly dissappointed that I could not cancel through Amazon but only through the shipper "Crutchfield".
Summary: Was just looking for a basic receiver to replace an old one that died. It was just for some speakers I have outside & in a formal dining area. I've already got 2 pretty nice Denon's for the 2 home theater areas in my house, and love them.
Summary: I would like to challenge anyone in finding a better AVR in this price category. I purchased the Denon AVR-1609 two days ago for under two hundred and am absolutely amazed that they can sell such a nice product for so little and make a profit. I hooked this up with a 6.1 speaker setup...
