Summary: I love this receiver as a cheap home theatre/living room stereo unit. I have had issues with it giving me a red ring of death. But only when It's off and is turned back on. I then have to reset it and reconfigure my settings. I sent it back to the retailer and they tried to tell me nothing was wrong which is BS. But for what I paid, it's a small inconvenience to just keep it on at all times (months at a time) and it's caused zero problems when it's on.
Summary: I was in the market for a no-frills received and hoped this would be it. I received the red blinking light of death a few months after purchase and haven't successfully solved the issue yet. I will stick with the four letter brand staring with S from now on. I was not impressed with my first Denon purchase.
Summary: This receiver functioned well for about a year but then the power button glowed red and the receiver stopped working. Reading the instructions revealed that the red glow might indicate that the speaker wires are shorted or the receiver overheated, neither of which was true. The red glow occurred even when the receiver was cool.
Receiver sometimes goes into protect mode for unknown reason

Summary: When the receiver works I like it but Starting about six months after getting the receiver I have had it go into protect mode (red flashing power button) about 50% of the time I try to start it up. I have tried a few different approaches to fix the problem but none have worked. It sounds like I have to take it to a repair shop now which may or may not be worth while. Just wanted to warn that the Denon receives seem to have reliability issues.
Summary: Paired up with a full 5.1 Polk speaker set up, the receiver has an odd combination of ports on the backside but it all works out in the end. It may not be their most powerful receiver but it gets the job done and is stable. Much better than a home theater in a box which preceded this.
