Summary: I purchased the Azur 651R to go with my Polk RTI A7s. Out of the box, this is a very solid unit, build quality looks very clean. Connection and setup was fairly straight forward and it was fairly easy to switch between HDMI passthrough and upscaling. Video looked fine, sound was good but not great with the Polks. While the sound was there during music/movies, the speakers sounded a bit constricted.
Pros: Solid construction, good looking receiver. Decent sound/video.
Cons: Not quite enough power to really open up my speakers.
Summary: Had a bad start. went through scratch and dent . First two receiver`s was junk sent back. 3rd one was a charm. New. I have had it for two month`s,and pushed it several times. I`m replacing some old carver and sunfire stuff for space, less cable`s and good fiber optic sound. Very happy with the purchase and time spent working with Crutchfield to fix their stuff.
Pros: Nice power. Every thing work`s like it`s supposed to!
Cons: Time spent dealing with the not so much repaired scratch and dent.
Summary: Longtime owner of Yamaha 7.1 120w per channel. Not really sure anymore of what it did well. The Cambridge OWNS the living room. It literally keeps all 7.2 speakers tight, crisp and present as needed. Never gets muddy and just stays smooth, even the rear surrounds are alive. It's not overly bright and not overly boomy - the Audessy mic auto adjust has it nearly perfect. No regrets whatsoever. Very pleased to make the investment even though a bit premium for my taste.
Pros: Very very strong amp that doesn't lose it's precision as you increase wattage. Handles digital beautifully.
Cons: Slight con that the Audessy mic kept setting sub crossover at 40hz, easy to adjust up to 60 or 80hz - still refining.
Summary: I'm on my second unit therefore t he 4 star rating vs 5. The first unit lost audio output not 5 mins into use. Crutchfield Tech Support and I worked for a hour and determined finally a defective unit that was returned. The second unit arrived and installed only to find the volume knob had come loose. CA needs to step up their QC!! Once speaker setup was complete and the unit subjected to a source it was WOW! Separation through 5.1 or analog 2ch is incredible!
Pros: Top of the line sound reproduction! The Japanese can't touch it!
Summary: This was an honest purchase for me. What I mean is that I thought real hard about exactly what i needed and wanted my next receiver to do. I needed a receiver that performed great at what was important to me with no useless "bells and whistles". I needed a great sounding movie experience (obviously), loud, clear, and powerful 2 channel rock music playback, and an audio direct mode for my SACD.
Pros: Robust all metal, heavy construction ( almost 40lbs!). Powerful high current amp, a clever cooling system, and features that seems to be tailored just for me. This is a no nonsense, all business machine.
