LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 3DS Review

5 December 2012
  • Excerpt: Personally, we find it a bit odd that 3DS just received its first Mario adventure roughly eight months after the system debuted, yet it already has three LEGO games, Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean being the first two. That said, we expected LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 to be the best, largely because the developers had more time to learn the ins and outs of the hardware, but therein lay the catch. There's a reason Warner Bros. pumps out so many LEGO adventures.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 review

1 October 2012
  • Excerpt: If you have played any of the other LEGO games you already know what to expect with LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7. Set in the LEGOfied wizarding world, the newest iteration never delivers on moving the series beyond what has already been done, but it does provide solid gameplay, plenty of fan service, and the charm the LEGO games have become known for. Years 5-7 is probably one of the best LEGO games to date.
  • Pros: Using magic in the LEGO universe, Collecting additional characters, The LEGO version of the story
  • Cons: There’s nothing new, Targeting can be temperamental, Resisting the urge to collect every single stud

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7

23 November 2011
  • Excerpt: Lord Voldemort may have been vanquished in the books and on the big screen, but a mini-figure version of the Harry Potter villain continues to wreak havoc in Travelers Tales’ latest brick-busting Lego installment. As the title suggests, LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7 retells the events of the last three books--and final four films--putting players behind the magic of their favorite young wizards and unleashing them in a familiar world re-imagined in colorful toy bricks.

Nintendo Life

  • Summary: Years 5-7 captures the type of fun we've come to expect of LEGO fare, pleasing us as well as its predecessors have but with few surprises or innovations. Its reduced scope can make events feel like disconnected missions, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, though the overall similarity from puzzle to puzzle and their often minimal interactivity can make things feel a bit repetitive.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7

1 July 2012
