Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! Review: Trouble in Candy Kingdom
29 December 2013
Excerpt: Looting dungeons is supposed to be fun. Why else would we crave the incessant click, click of hack-n-slash games like Diablo ? Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! (out now for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii U, and 3DS) plays more like the classic arcade game Gauntlet than Diablo , and it suffers for it. Developer WayForward Technologies sticks to outdated conventions rather than try to make its gameplay enjoyable.
Conclusion: There isn't a whole lot to enjoy in Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I Don't Know, it's just boring from start to finish. After the first ten floors or so you've seen a majority of what the game has to offer, with the exception of some interesting boss battles. Even if you're a major fan of Adventure Time, at best you should give this game a rental.

Conclusion: The gameplay is extraordinarily repetitive, which isn’t an issue early on but starts to become one once the complexity ramps up. You can only exit out and save your progress every five levels, and as the levels get more expansive and difficult, panic can start to set in each time you start playing – the idea of dying three levels in and needing to start the whole tedious affair again becomes terrifying.
